We rate Canadian insurers on the evidence.
InsuranceXpert exists to answer one question honestly: which insurer is right for you? We rate companies across car, home, life, health and travel insurance. Most comparison sites rank insurers by who pays them, or recycle satisfaction data that’s years out of date. We don’t.
How we work
Every company earns The Expert Score (0–100) across six weighted pillars — coverage & policy terms, financial strength, customer satisfaction, value, digital experience and availability. Each insurance type is scored separately, because a company strong at life can be mid-pack at travel. We verify financial strength directly from AM Best and Morningstar DBRS with the rating and date shown, anchor premiums to Insurance Bureau of Canada and Statistics Canada data, and read the actual policy wordings. Where a figure can’t be verified, we flag it rather than guess — and where a group’s arms are rated separately, we show each line’s own rating instead of applying one to the whole company.
Editorial independence
Our rankings are never influenced by paid placements or affiliate relationships. We may earn a commission when you compare quotes through our partners, which keeps the site free — but it never changes a score or a position.
A note on scope
InsuranceXpert provides vehicle and insurance information only. We do not sell insurance, and we do not collect or return personal information about drivers or vehicle owners. Always confirm coverage and price directly with the insurer. Found a figure you think is wrong? Tell us — corrections are the most useful thing you can send.
